What's your role?

As a mentor, your job is to just be you! Your unique insights and experiences will help your mentee(s) grow and make a lasting impact on their journey in veterinary medicine & beyond!

What's your commitment?

• 1-2 hours per month 
• Quick check-ins (15-30 minutes) within the platform
• Share your experiences & provide feedback

What's expected from mentors?

We have designed the LSU Vet Med Mentorship platform to be flexible for faculty and alumni. We know that you are busy and have many personal and professional commitments. You and your mentee have control over your mentorship relationship and can decide how you want the relationship to work.

However, we do have a few minimal expectations:

• Establish clear expectations with your mentee from the start, including how and when you'll connect. At least one meeting a month is required, typically conducted in person, via phone, or video chat.
• Approach the relationship with professionalism, respect and an open mind. 
• Actively listen and ask open-ended questions to help your mentee explore and develop based on their set goals (each mentee will be required to complete a goal form).
